Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT MAKES THE SCHOOL OF MISSIONS UNIQUE?

The School of Missions was designed to equip and empower those who have a passion to win the lost and unreached people of the world. Through spiritual and practical training sessions, this school gets you in motion doing what you were designed to do – influence your world. The School of Missions helps you become self-sustained and give you the tools you need to last in ministry and missions.

WHAT WILL MY TYPICAL SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE?

A normal school week starts on Tuesday and continues through Thursday from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM. The week consists of praise and worship, prayer, and multiple classes of rotational subjects. Books and assignments, as well as presentations, are assigned throughout the year. Projects are graded and constructive feedback is given to further training.

HOW LONG IS THE SCHOOL YEAR?

The School of Missions is divided into two semesters. The first semester begins mid-September and ends mid-December. The second semester begins mid-January and ends mid-April. Graduation follows the last week of school.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE COST?

Tuition covers the cost of books, ministry material, training, and the classes taught by experienced ministers and missionaries. You will be responsible for your own living expenses and GV trips.

CAN I MAKE MONTHLY PAYMENTS TOWARD MY TUITION?

$1,250 is due on August 31st, and the remaining balance is due January 31st. Monthly payments can be made prior to these deadlines. If payments are past due, a 15% late fee will be added to your tuition.

DO I STILL NEED TO RAISE SUPPORT FOR THE TRIPS I’M ATTENDING?

Yes, you are still responsible to raise the support for any of the Global Ventures’ trips you attend. Part of the training you will receive will be on how to effectively raise the support through various fundraisers and partner communication. We advise anyone preparing to attend the school, to set up a phone appointment with a GVSM advisor to talk about how to get started financially.

DOES GLOBAL VENTURES PROVIDE HOUSING?

Housing is available; however, space is limited. Once you have been accepted, we will work with you to find the best living arrangement possible. If housing is full, we will provide you with information about nearby apartment complexes that you can look into.

WHAT KIND OF COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE DO I NEED?

We highly recommend that you have a newer MacBook Air or MacBook Pro with M1 chip (will help future-proof your laptop). A newer PC with 16 GB of ram will work great too. If you have any specific software questions, please call our office at 918.266.5764. More information about tech and software can be found in the Student Portal.

CAN I HAVE A JOB WHILE ENROLLED?

Yes, we advise you to find a good part-time job in the Tulsa area working afternoons/evenings but preferably Friday through Monday. This has been the best way to afford living expenses during the school year. We also encourage you to raise as much support as you can before moving to Tulsa and beginning the School of Missions in the fall. Please view the list of recommended jobs in the Student Portal.

CAN I ATTEND OTHER FORMS OF SCHOOLING DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR?

Some people have opted to take online classes while enrolled in the school. GVSM has partnered with Oral Roberts University to provide discounted rates for online courses at ORU for active GVSM students.

IS GLOBAL VENTURES ASSOCIATED WITH A CHURCH OR DENOMINATION?

We are not affiliated with any specific church or denomination, although we work with many. We are a non-profit Christian organization.

DO I NEED TO ATTEND A BIBLE SCHOOL OR COLLEGE FIRST?

You are welcome to attend the school regardless of whether you’ve graduated from Bible School or college. Those who have previously attended a form of Bible School or college find that this school enriches their education by providing them with a unique practical outlet for what they have already learned, but in no way is it a requirement.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE?

School of Missions is open to people ages 18 and above. You must have graduated from High School or received a GED in order to be qualified.

WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I AM ACCEPTED OR NOT?

Once we receive your application, we will begin the interview process. This could take anywhere from 1-2 months. Once you are accepted, you will receive an official notification in the mail.
